They sure play together like they been doing it for a while, the no bullshit blues "Real Deal" is a real winner. They sure sound good. (Stuart Kremsky, Cadence Magazine USA, January 2006) |

LIVE CONCERT November 2007 "Doug Hammond enjoyed his late fame at Vienna's Jazzland.
With "A Real Deal" he has brought out an amazingly fresh-sounding album which features several of his current poems he set to music together with pianist Kirk Lightsey. The later descendant of the "Harlem Renaissance" American literary movement just does' let go".
On the concert: "on a purely musical mission with the great sounding trumpeter Dwight Adams, the beautiful performance took off in a sophisticatedly grooving way....."
(Die Presse by Samir H. Köck)
CD/PERSPICUITY "Hammond's playing blends interlectual concepts a la Max Roach with reduced effectiveness a la Baby Dods". "Satisfies the lust for exquisit, concentrated, lean sounds".
CD/ SPACES Hammond "conjures up a broad spectrum of groove landscapes from an African drum chant to structured rhythm progressions to the heftiest modern swing."

The young talented "Spirit of Detroit" blends the old with the new as he soars to high and serene vntures. Adams is one of the young players who dares to go beyond borders to create an atmosphere where all seems possible. Hammond's compositions give him new openings that he readily uses, while never forgetting the blues.
Professional experiences Arnett Cobb, David Newman, Barry Harris, Wynton Marsalis, James Carter, Kirk Lightsey, Earl Klugh, Stevie Wonder plus many others
